The iPhone Duo’s battery is rated at 4,883mAh, Apple’s EU product information sheet for the phone shows. At launch, Apple talked up “one high-energy battery on each side” and gave hours, not capacity. The sheet, filed under the EU’s rules for smartphones, fills in the number.
The revealed total here matches an earlier leak. Back in July, Digital Chat Station, a Weibo leaker, posted that the two cells are 2,962mAh and 1,921mAh, which add up to exactly 4,883mAh. As Apple’s sheet shows, that’s exactly the total.
Battery endurance comes to 51 hours 30 minutes per charge on the sheet, which also rates the battery for at least 1,000 charge cycles and gives the phone an A for energy efficiency. Apple’s own estimate is up to 24 hours of use when both screens get equal time. We’d plan around Apple’s number, not the sheet’s.
Drops and repairs
The sheet also rates the phone for at least 140 drops without a defect, but only 35 when it’s tested fully opened. That earns it a B for drop reliability. And it’s also rated IP68, down to 6 meters.
The Apple sheet gives the phone a C for repairability at 2.65 out of 5, pulled down by a tools score of 1.12 and a fasteners score of 2.24. Spare parts and repair information both score a full 5, and the sheet points to Apple’s Self Service Repair program for both. Read: the battery isn’t user-replaceable.
Apple commits to at least five years of software updates for the iPhone Duo, counted from when they stop selling it. That earns just 1 out of 5 points for updates.
iPhone Duo costs Php 159,990 (about $2,540) for 256GB, Php 175,990 for 512GB, Php 207,990 for 1TB and Php 254,990 for 2TB in Apple’s Philippine store. In the US, it starts at $1,999 (about Php 126,100) and goes on sale October 23rd. In the local counterpart, retail stores list it as available from October 30th.
