Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is out on Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s the series’ first game on a Nintendo console in about 13 years. The last one was Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U in 2013, Nintendo officially announced.
Infinity Ward developed the Switch 2 version natively with partner studio Digital Legends, Activision’s Switch 2 page says. It plays on the TV or in handheld mode, supports HDR and the Switch 2 Pro Controller, and has cross-play and cross-progression with the other platforms.
You can also aim with a Joy-Con 2 as a mouse, to track targets and make quick adjustments. Gyro aiming works while you aim down sights, on its own or with the sticks, and paired with the mouse it handles the fine adjustments. PC players will feel right at home.
You get the campaign, multiplayer with 12 new 6v6 maps plus large maps with vehicles, and the DMZ extraction mode in the Switch 2 version. A launch update built on beta feedback fixes bugs, improves gameplay and adds Inflation and Hijack, two of the game’s new multiplayer modes.
Microsoft, which owns Activision, and Nintendo signed a binding 10-year agreement in February 2023 to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo players on the same day as Xbox. It took more than three and a half years for the first one to show up, though, and Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23rd on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC alike.
On the US eShop, the Standard Edition costs $69.99 (about Php 4,450) and the Vault Edition $99.99 (about Php 6,350). Multiplayer and DMZ need a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Xbox players pay up too, since Modern Warfare 4 skipped Game Pass at launch and won’t join until Holiday 2027.
