Sony’s PlayStation Pulse puts custom planar magnetic drivers in a $99.99 (about Php 6,350) wireless headset. Pre-orders open October 29th, ahead of a November 19th launch, Sony says in an update to its PlayStation Blog post.
PlayStation’s first wireless headset with planar drivers was Pulse Elite, in 2024, and Pulse gets larger ones, with four magnets each. Sony says they add fuller, deeper bass while keeping Pulse Elite’s clean sound. They also separate sounds precisely enough, it says, to pinpoint footsteps or a reload in a shooter.
A USB-C PlayStation Link adapter comes in the box. PlayStation Link carries lossless, ultra-low-latency audio and lets the headset switch between PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac.
Bluetooth works at the same time. Sony’s product page adds that you can chat or play music on your phone while game audio stays on the PS5’s PlayStation Link connection.
The mic is built into the headset and uses AI noise rejection to filter out background noise in chat. The earcups rotate so the headset can lie flat for carrying. Sony hasn’t given a battery life yet.
A premium model, Pulse Edge, follows in early 2027 with twice the magnets per driver, active noise cancellation and a detachable boom mic.
