The Elder Scrolls VI is officially Sentinel, and its teaser points to Hammerfell

Eight full years after the first teaser, it finally has a confirmed name.

The Elder Scrolls VI finally has a name: The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. Bethesda’s Todd Howard introduces it near the end of Bethesda Game Studios’ 40th anniversary video, right before a short teaser with the new logo.

“Everybody’s always asking about Elder Scrolls VI,” Howard says, calling the anniversary “a perfect time” to share the name. Earlier in the video, he notes that Skyrim, 15 years later, is still the studio’s most played game.

The teaser shows a scroll case in drifting sand, then the Sentinel logo, and ends on a quote credited to Yazar, Moth Priest of High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell, dated 4E 206. It opens:

The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes.

The quote names Hammerfell, though Bethesda hasn’t said where the new game is set.

The Verge had the Sentinel name days before the reveal, along with a report that the game is set in Hammerfell. Bethesda Game Studios’ own post on X asks fans whether they guessed correctly.

Bethesda hasn’t announced platforms or a release date, and the teaser shows no gameplay. Although, that might not matter much to long-time fans of the Elder Scrolls franchise.

The game was first teased at E3 2018, more than eight years ago, in a 36-second clip with no subtitle. In some ways, one may call it a companion to the upcoming GTA 6. And no, we will not be elaborating.
