Apple’s first touchscreen MacBooks, the second half of its two October launches, are reportedly getting a launch day in Los Angeles (LA). Apple is “now inviting some media to an all-day product launch experience on Oct. 28 in Los Angeles,” Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says on X, adding that it’s “for the touch-screen MacBooks, iPad mini, M6 Macs.” Apple hasn’t announced any of them.
Gurman’s October 8th report for Bloomberg says the new MacBook Pros will be lighter than today’s models, with OLED screens and the iPhone’s Dynamic Island. Bloomberg frames them as Apple’s long-awaited move into touch computers.
The iPad mini will get OLED too, per the same report, along with a front camera that moves to the landscape side for video calls and a revamped speaker system. M6 versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac round out the list, and those two will look like the current models.
Apple’s own French regulatory site already lists a new case: a “Smart Folio pour iPad mini”, model A3632, filed under cases and protection with 2026 as its release year. The same list has no 2026 iPad mini to go with it: the newest is the iPad mini (A17 Pro) from 2024, which has its own folio entry.
Gurman’s earlier report put the launch “on or around” Tuesday, October 27th, with an online video presentation and a hands-on part for the press, like Apple’s October 13th home launch. His new post gives October 28th for the media day, but not the day Apple announces the products.
The LA setting fits the audience. Bloomberg says the launch is aimed at creative professionals in video production, photo editing and music production, and that Apple last held a showcase like this in LA in 2024.
The last time Apple put touch on a MacBook Pro, it was the Touch Bar: a Multi-Touch strip in place of the function keys, unveiled October 27th, 2016. It has since disappeared, but it sure was a neat little addition that showed if Apple wanted to innovate, they still could.
