Colorful’s iGame X870E Ultra-S V14 motherboard gets five M.2 slots, two USB4 ports

This board adds Wi-Fi 7 and CPU base-clock tuning, too

Colorful has a new motherboard for AMD’s AM5 processors called the iGame X870E Ultra-S V14, featuring five M.2 slots, two USB4 ports and power delivery for high-end Ryzen chips. The company announced it in a press release, and its product page lists the full specs.

Three of those M.2 slots run at PCIe 5.0 x4, wired straight to the processor, and the other two at PCIe 4.0. Put a drive in the second or third PCIe 5.0 slot, though, and the graphics card slot drops from x16 to x8.

The heatsink over the drives has a quick-release latch, so swapping an SSD doesn’t need a screwdriver. The two USB4 ports on the back run at 40Gbps and can drive a 4K display at 60Hz.

Power runs through 16+2+1 phases rated at 80A, and Colorful says that’s enough to run a two-chiplet Ryzen 9 9950X3D at full load. A built-in clock generator lets you raise the CPU’s base clock, a finer dial than the multiplier alone.

For Ryzen 9000 X3D chips, X3D AI High Frame Mode tunes the processor’s boost, temperature and power limits and voltage by itself. Colorful says it lifts frame rates and cuts stutter while keeping multi-core performance, unlike other brands’ X3D game modes, which switch off a chiplet and some threads.

Colorful also says it ran four 48GB sticks, 192GB in all, at 6600MHz with tight CL28 timings. The spec sheet’s ceiling is higher: up to 256GB across the four slots, and memory overclocks to DDR5-8400.

The black heatsinks carry the iGame Ultra family’s graffiti-style lettering and dot-matrix art, with pixel-style RGB lighting under the power-section nameplate. Colorful files the look under hip-hop, a genre that has gotten by without heatsinks until now.
