Claude Duet doesn’t wait for you to open a chat: it comes to you first. Anthropic has just announced it as a new app, where Claude works as a proactive agent that keeps working when you step away and checks with you before it acts. It’s built around Claude Opus 5.5.
Each morning, it will send a short brief on the most important items across your connected apps. Through the day, it then checks those apps every few hours and messages you only when something needs your attention.
Claude Duet has a virtual machine with its own browser, so it keeps working with your laptop and phone off. Send a short message and it works out which apps and steps to use, from scheduling a meeting to building a dashboard, a sales forecast or a web app.
The agent reads, drafts and prepares work on its own. Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, though, it “shows you exactly what it’s about to do and waits for your approval,” Anthropic says. Trading securities and moving money between accounts are off-limits even with your approval.
More than 6,000 connectors and plugins hook it into Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe, Gusto, Shopify and more, so it can find unpaid invoices and draft reminders, or prepare payroll. It can also buy things for your business through Link, Stripe’s digital wallet, and it pays with a virtual card so your real card number isn’t shared.
Anthropic lists its own weak spots. Duet might misread a thread or miscalibrate what’s urgent, and since it’s built around work, personal errands such as booking tickets “aren’t quite as strong.” So it can build you a sales forecast, but maybe book your own tickets for now.
The research preview is available through a waitlist for Pro and Max subscribers in the US, on iOS, Android and claude.ai. It’s included in both plans: Pro costs $20 a month (about Php 1,270) and Max starts at $100 a month (about Php 6,340). Its background checks count toward your plan’s usage limits.
