Oppo is building the Manus AI agent into ColorOS 17, Manus says. The agent lives in Oppo’s AI Mind Pilot as a new Agent Mode, and it debuts on the upcoming Find X10 series.
Users can give Agent Mode a goal and it can break the job into steps, pick the tools and hand back a finished result. Ask it to sort out a trip, and it finds the flight, hotel, restaurant and attraction bookings scattered across your apps, then mixes in online information for a day-by-day itinerary.
Oppo’s own write-up adds that it can rename those files by what’s in them and turn the plan into a webpage or presentation. Photos work the same way: it can sort a trip’s shots into albums by place or person, then make a vlog cover from your favorite.
ColorOS 17 runs on-device models that index your files and photos, so finding, sorting and renaming happen on the phone. For those local jobs, the originals aren’t sent to Manus or any other third-party AI service. When a job has to leave the phone, Agent Mode asks for your explicit permission before any of your content is uploaded online.
A new transparency report for Oppo’s Private Computing Cloud lists which cloud AI services ran and when, and you can export it. It’s a receipt, basically, for an assistant that goes through your flight tickets.
Agent Mode will support ChatGPT as well as Manus at first, with a free usage allowance from Oppo that may vary by country. Once that runs out, you can sign in with your own Manus or ChatGPT account.
It’s the same play as Ask Mode, which arrived with ColorOS 16 and puts answers from Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT side by side. Oppo keeps the system access and the privacy rules, and the AI companies plug in. We think that’s the right way around for software that handles your files and photos.
The Find X10 series launches globally on October 21st in Mallorca, Spain.
